The happenings of a small group called Divulge and "Project White". |
What is Project White?
Project White is the working name of a visual novel produced by our team, Divulge. It was inspired by a thread in 4chan’s /u/ in early 2010 and grew from ideas presented there.
Then what is Goddess of White?
Goddess of White, or “GoW”, was the name given to this project’s first forum. It was thought of on the spot and later found unsuitable for the game’s actual title. It has since been changed to a placeholder name until we decide on a proper one.
Will this game contain sexual content?
Yes, we plan to include erotic scenes in every route.
How many routes will there be in the game?
We plan on having six routes in the final product, each based around a different romantic interest.
Will you be using voices in this game?
Unfortunately, due to the amount of characters, regional accents and resources it would use, we will not be voicing the game. This is highly unlikely to change over time.
Will this be commercial?
This game will not be commercial.
Where can I find a public progress status for this project?
Due to our overall lack of resources, movement on the project is slow. We would prefer not to have a progress status available until we have something substantial to present.
Can I filter in/out question posts?
If you would like to see the questions we’ve been asked, click here. If you would just like to see our update posts, click here. Alternatively, you can search questions by the #question tag and important posts by the #update tag.
How’s the game going? / Why aren’t you posting more?
The game is going slowly but well! We can’t tell you anything specific, as mentioned above, but be rest assured that we’re working on it.
Posts to this blog are made sparingly but shouldn’t be interpreted as a lack of work being done. We simply want to present entries with substance and when we have something to show.
What kind of people are you looking for?
We’re currently accepting new artists, programmers and writers. For artists, we are looking in particular for anyone who can do good background art — though because of the labour involved with art for a project like this, anybody with solid skills in lineart and has access to programs that can open and save .psd files would be welcome to apply. Programmers will need to be proficient with Python and Ren’py and should also be comfortable working in collaboration.
We have space left for one more full writer, but we do set a fairly high standard for our work, so please only apply if you feel confident in your abilities and have some pieces you can show to back this up.
If you would like to apply, the best way to contact us is through our forum. Thyroid, Shadow and Killdream are the respective leads in charge of art, writing and programming.
Is there anything specific I should include in my application?
If you’re applying to writing, it would be very useful for you to link to or otherwise upload a sample of your most recent creative piece in your PM to the lead. Accepted mediums include prose and a variety of scripts, though staying within creative bounds would be best (ie. comic scripts would be discouraged). If you don’t have something written recently, feel free to link to or upload the work that you are most proud of. If you have written nothing (or don’t want to show it), our lead can give you something to write about.
If you’re applying to art, it would be good to link to various things you have done or your portfolio and/or gallery (be it on DeviantArt, Tumblr or an album on Photobucket). This should have recent work that shows digital competence. The content of the work doesn’t need to be specific. If you would like to create something specifically for applying (of which you will be tested on anyway), you can draw up a background that could be seen in a visual novel, like this, where the perspective is at eye-level, there are buildings, some plants and it’s daytime.
If you’re applying to programming, you should send samples of your code or a program/game you’ve made (most languages are acceptable, but Python is preferred as you’ll be working with it) in a PM to the lead. You should also have an account with BitBucket and be alright with using Mercurial.
